WAKING THE CADAVER Interview

WAKING THE CADAVER (NJ, USA) was formed in 2006. They combine Death Metal and hardcore with unhuman growling vocals. This fucked up mix of aggression and power is also known as “Slamming Gore Groove”.

Don, first we wanna thank you for the time you spent , answering our questions.

Dan/Benny - it’s my pleasure to help out, and thank you too! I hope you are doing well my friends.

So please introduce yourself and the band WAKING THE CADAVER to people who don`t know you.

My name is Don Campan and I am the front man for WAKING THE CADAVER. We started writing the music we play because we simply wanted to hear some new ultra-twisted evil shit that sounded like everything we listen to. We added our own infamous NJ style crunk into the mix - and out came WAKING THE CADAVER!

Which bands or which influences inspired you and WTC ?

Wow, there are so many, but def: Cannibal Corpse, Cinerary, Disgorge, Slayer, Napalm Death, and at the time Devourment.

Is the actual line-up the origin one when WAKING THE CADAVER started their career or were there any changes?

The line up has changed since it started, we have been through a few guitar players, we are now certain that Mike Mayo and Rob Wharton are the final guitar players. As for the original members it is still Dennis Morgan on Drums, Steve Vermilyea on Bass, and me staying pissed as hell on the mic.

The first time we got in touch with WTC was 2006, when we found your two demo songs on myspace. They were fuckin brutal and we just loved them . Then the first WTC album was released in 2007. Could you please say something about this CD?

Sure, that CD and demo - is NOW and will forever will be in music history. I don’t give a fuck what anyone says. Here we are NOW putting out our 2nd CD (BEYOND COPS. BEYOND GOD.) and we have grown so much musically as a band, and I hear more now that ever from people, all over the world, - “...we love ‘Perverse’, that CD was epic...” all sorts of comments like that. Trust me, we know the our 1st CD has a underground quality. But it was a stepping stone for where we are now headed. I am and always will be proud of it. SO FUCK YOU IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT.

In august your second release will hit the streets. What can we expect? Is it completely different to your first CD or are there just small changes?

In many ways it is VERY different and then yet it still has all the great slamming qualities from the first. Its has it all - blasts - scorching hot riffs - solos - gang chants - 2 step parts - old-school-style-circle-pit parts - beat down parts - cruising on your motorcycle parts - groovy parts - getting high as fuck parts - scolding lyrics - it just never ends!! This CD is all of our pride and joy and we have all worked very hard to make sure it keeps the old waking fans movin’ and the new ones slammin’!

In 2009 WAKING THE CADAVER toured Europe. We visited some of your shows. They were just incredible! So, are you planning another tour or a few shows in Europe or germany?

It means the world that you and your crew came out to support us time and time again. Thank you so much. We are coming back with a full euro tour, in November 2010, on a nightliner with Napalm Death, Immolation and Macabre. Now THAT'S a Death Metal tour!

Where do you see WTC in 5 years?

Playing with Slayer.

If we want some merch – where can we buy it?

indiemerch.com/wakingthecadaver,
gutterchristproductions.com,
Imperial Clothing,
we got it all. We are everywhere. Buy Now.

Some words for your fans?

You are all fucking sick in the head - and i love you all for that. Thank you for helping our dreams come true - see you on tour. 666.

And now before were coming to the end: Brainstorming!

german beer?
THE BEST! (sorry everyone else, but it is...lol)

nowadays hardcore and metal?
Well, waking is a hybrid band and one of the only bands that can play to both genres, remember that. Taste it.

your haters?
hahahaaaa..ya see..a WAKING THE CADAVER hater..is not really a hater..they are just secret fans that are just SOooo jealous that we are so good, that they can’t take it anymore and they have a meltdown.. and then have to try and talk shit..via the internet! GET REAL HATERS!! but thanx for all your free publicity - you have done wonders for the band. SUCKERS!

straight edge?
not for me and that trend left the building a while ago... get wrecked.

groupies?
Dennis takes them all.

Thank you, Don, for the interview and I hope we`ll meet again soon. No matter if in germany or in the states ;)

GENTLEMEN`S SPORTS Interview

Das Line Up steht so.

Who cares?

Ruhrpott?
Harte Shows und harter Mosh, SOSF Dudes - immer eine Reise wert!

Kiez?
Suff, Koks und Nutten.

Titten?
Titten raus!

Deutsch-Rap?
Manchmal cool, meistens Dreck. Bushido can suck it!

Nutella?
+ Erdnussbbutter = Snickers!

So on…

Before Dishonor, Biohazard, Dead Swans, More Than Life, Defeater, Nueva Etica…

Was macht ihr beruflich neben REMEMBER?

Studieren, Arbeiten, Arbeiten, Arbeiten. Also nichts mit Punkerleben und Hartz4. Verdammt – das müssen wir noch ändern!

Letzte Worte an eure Fans?

Fans?

WM 2010?
Vuvuzela – Uweseeler
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uwe_Seeler

Politik?

CLEAR CONVICTIONS Interview

CLEAR CONVICTIONS (Puerto Rico) is a christian Hardcore / Gospel-Combo which is preaching the word of God through music.

First we really wanna thank you that you spent your time to a answer a couple of questions for us!!

Please describe your band , bandmembers to our audience.

Well, this band is all about serving. We want to serve people in the scene by spreading the real concept about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So the band members are just a simple group of guys that have a great love for music and are willing to talk about"life" and to hear the nessesity among the people and help in anything they can.

Please tell us something about your band name „CLEAR CONVICTIONS“. Is there a bigger meaning in relation to something special?

"CLEAR CONVICTIONS" comes around because that's how we see our lifestyle. As christians, we believe by faith and that faith becomes true and alive , something that you can feel inside,it is like having an ear and true relationship with the Creator. Then that faith madeus move in obedience to God, for example that made us to: Love the people around as ourselves, love our enemy, protect the weak etc.To obey God's will. Then we are CLEAR that our CONVICTIONS are that we have a God that lives and has the power and is the only one that can change death to life because we feel and see Him in our lives. In other words: Clear Convictions = Believe in God in a time of God Free. Oh and, it sounds cool, the other name that we had wasn’t.

Please describe the music you play.

This is a tough question because there area lot of original facts in the music but at the same time there are some little influences of other bands. In general we play Hardcore with a LOT of Metal, but also mixed with a Hip-Hop soul (haha), hard to explain.

When did you create CLEAR CONVICTIONS? And what inspired you to play the music you play?

The band was established in 1999. I really don’t have all the details about what inspired the first members but i think that it was the same feeling I had:"I love music,I have the talent playing that kind of music,I love that kind of music,I love to talk about Jesus and his love, so why not?"(yes, the drummer is the one answering the questions).

Is CLEAR CONVICTIONS your main job or is it just a “hobby”?

I think none of both. It is not a job because isn’t full time and we are not using the band for a living and its not a hobby, its more likea calling that we love to do. But who knows if that can change in the future.

Some of us know your first album, which came out 2005 on strike first records. We saw that you will bring out a new album on „On the Attack Records“. What do you expect for this collaboration? What can we expect for the new album and when does it hit the street?

We chose "On the Attack Records"because we know that they take things serious and we expect a great work from both sides because we are trying to do our best. And this new album that is coming soon shows a new C.C., music is more complicated and has variety but at the same time has a touch of simple rhythms, it has a rich sound and every song is going to sound different to your ears.

We don`t know much about the Hardcorescene in South America, especially in Puerto Rico. What can you say about the scene there? And what can you say, when you draw a comparison between the South American and the North american hardcorescene?

Well, Puerto Rico isnt really in South America. Americais divided on four: North America, Central America, South America and theCaribbean. Puerto Rico is in the Caribbean, but that doesn’t means that we still connected with influences of S.A., that could happen. And about the hxcscene in Puerto Rico,I have to tell you the truth, it had change and keeps changing. These past years (like 3, not sure) things are starting to turn slower for hxcbands here in PR, don’t know I think that the new breed of kids are looking for something different, but there’s always a step whenthings have to evolve<<< (you know, sometimes even the smallest groups in society can be affected and obligated to evolve in something better or new, we like it or not. I personally like oldskool and newskool hxc and ifit changeI decide for something better than something new, less uncertainly I think)>>>let’s see what happens with hxc music in some years from now. //Well, whenI seethe hxc scene of PR in comparison with US there’s not a big difference, PR is a territory of the US and a lot of things are the same. But most of the influences are from New York and Los Angeles I think (Most of all, but is more complicated).

Do you ever went to Europe? Especially to germany ? ;)

Nop, we haven’t. But we would LOVE to visit you up there guys! :)

What about a tour? Will there be a promotion tour for the new album?

Not sure about that yet.

What are your songs about? Do you have a main topic? Or is it just „for fun“?

Our songs are all about what we believe: They are based in God, christians lifestyle, hope, love, respect, tolerance, spiritual liberation etc.

What has been your biggest challenge as a band?

Everyday is a challenge for each of us.

Do yo guys know some german HC-bands?

Ermmm… I don’t think I know, years ago I started to hear European bands and the only ones that I remember are Raised Fist and Censored Sound (and I think they are not from Germany right?). But maybe some of the guys could know. Or Maybe you could show us some great bands over there?

And now… Brainstorming!! (Please give us your first thoughts )

sXe?
Strength of mind and soul

god?
Our Lord and Savior

Hip Hop?
Inspiration + Poetry + Rhythm = “Art” (speaking about real hip hop)

politics?
Mechanism that can be used for good of for bad (and we all know the story of reality)

money?
Corruption of heart, vanity and selfishness if we love it as a god.

Any last words?
All I have to say is that I wish every person that reads this interview all the blessings and to forgive my bad English grammar. Hope you all to understand what i ment to say J God bless u all people!

SUFFOKATE Interview

SUFFOKATE (USA) combines devastating Death Metal with furios Hardcore. In between you`ll find killing breakdowns and unhuman growling.

Please introduce your bandmembers and the music you play.

Ricky - Vocals
Lars - Drums
Taylor - Guitar
Tesoro - Guitar
Bray - Bass

How long do you know each other?

Lars and Taylor have known each other sings the beginning (started the band with the original vocalist). Bray has been in the band since around Oakland and Ricky and I are the most recent additions. We've known the other dudes for about 2 and a half years. I've known Ricky for about 4-5 years, we hungout before we both joined SUFFOKATE.

What do you think? The music you play… is it rather hardcore? Or rather death metal ?

I think it's a combination of both. All of us enjoy hardcore bands as well as death metal bands and we try to do our best to combine the two together.

You just brought out a new album. Are there any changes to your last one?

It's definitely a more mature sound. We didn't want to write a record that sounded just like the last one, especially after this many years have passed since the last one has been released.

Until a few days ago you guys toured with CARNIFEX and VEIL OF MAYA trough europe. Please tell us something about this tour.

It was amazing. We have been friends with the CARNIFEX guys for awhile now so it was awesome going to europe with them. And we've heard a lot of good things about the VEIL guys so we were stoked to finally meet and tour with them. There were definitely some nights where it could have been better but for the most part it was like a non-stop party with good times.

And will there be another tour? Especially a tour in Germany? ;)

Haha. Hopefully, Germany is in our top favorite places to be in Europe.

How are the dudes of CARNIFEX?

Awesome dudes, good people.

Is there any funny SUFFOKATE tour story?

I don't know about funny to other people but there are definitely some ridiculous ones. Like one of our merch guys passing out in a girls pink taco, haha.

When you`re on such a long tour… how is it ? Do you miss you home? So is there any homesickness?

Definitely. I'm sure anyone in a band can relate to missing the comfort and consistency of being at home. For example, all of us like to shower daily when possible and being on tour definitely prevents that from happening.

Are you happy to be back in the states? Or could you just start a new tour?

We are happy to be at home but are also anxious to start hitting the road again. We are actually going on a California tour with bleeding through, terror, the ghost inside then are going out on our full us headliner with the red shore, and hell followed with, murderdeathkill and king conquer.

What about the HC /Metal-Scene in California? And what do you think about the scene in germany?

It's home to us and the scene in germany is different but not in a bad way. you can tell everyone out there genuinely loves metal music. they're so enthusiastic and stoked that you're there and we are just as excited to be there as well.

What is your ultimate direction as a band? So, what is the biggest aim you want to reach?

just do all we can with what we have and have fun while doing so.

Ricky, which size are your ear plugs?

i think they're 2 and 3/4 inches. but he's always going bigger. i believe he can fit a soda can through it so whatever the dimensions are for that, they're at least that big.

Brainstorming!! (Just fill in your first thoughts)

German Schnitzel?
i want some.

Tattoos?
form of expression.

Burger King or McDonalds?
burger king.

Barack Obama?
no comment.

videogames?
hell yes.

god?
hail satan.

Any last words?
party.
